 The Dark Island Trust was set up in 1999 with a view to promoting traditional music/dance in the Aberdeen area and providing opportunities for musicans/dancers to perform in public, while at the same time, raising money for local and national charities. The trust began by forming a Ceilidh Band 'Dark Island', which gave developing musicians the chance to play regularly at public ceilidhs.
Any funds raised by the Trust are donated to charities nominated by
members of the band.
